It was a beautiful Saturday. The sun was out and skies were clear, but it was pleasantly windy so I didn’t feel much of the heat at all. My co-worker and I met up for lunch at Gram’s Diner in Rockwell.
Rockwell is one of my favorite places to shop, dine and hang out. It’s a self-contained community with several residential buildings, an office building, a grad school and a mall that houses local and imported brands. It also has a Tent that holds events and weddings, and for this weekend, they have a bazaar.
Gram’s Diner is the only diner-style restaurant in Rockwell and it is in this area called the Block 09. It is a little ‘island’ just across the mall that has coffee shops and restaurants where you can dine al fresco. I love diner food, but I was feeling a little patriotic that day so I got the Patriotic Breakfast. It’s actually a Filipino breakfast with a choice of tapa, longganisa and daing na bangus. This is a no-brainer: I love tapsilog.
The beef they used is done bacon-style and it was crispy and absolutely amazing.
After lunch, we jaunted off to the mall and just walked around and tried on stuff. There was this pair of shoes that I am thinking of buying. I am still thinking about it as I write.
My co-worker and I thought of buying knock off Wayfarers but decide against it. Instead, we headed off the bazaar. It was packed and I lost interest in going around to look at the items but I got a white leather chain bracelet instead and put it on together with my Philippe Charriol bangle and studded leather bracelet. I am so into rocker / punk style right now, but I couldn’t really pull it off so I resort to just buying accessories.
When we got out of the tent, there was a familiar sweet-smelling smoke that seems to be coming off a grill. And there it was, the sign says it all:
Aaahhh… Boracay. It is officially summer people!!!

old school...
It is always nice to see your old friends from school and that's what I did last night. A college friend, who has been living in Boston for about 5 years now, is in town and a little gathering has been planned. So, a bunch of us trooped down to Bonifacio High Street and had some food at Kabisera, which is also Dencio's but slightly more high end.
The food was good... very Dencio's. Nothing really special there. The sisig, as expected, did not disappoint. We also got a Lumpiang Ubod, Stuffed Squid, Tuna Belly, The Sugba, Laing and Sizzling Bangus. Sorry, I was so hungry I didn't bother taking my camera out and take pictures.
After dinner, we walked to the Fort Strip to get some drinks at Trio. It's a quiet and classy Italian restaurant with a superb grappa a friend wanted us to try. We chose this place coz we wanted to catch up and have fun conversation and we couldn't really do that in a bar with loud music. We started off with a round of Blow Jobs for everyone and that totally made everyone loosen up.
It was just a fun time and the stories and drinks flowed endlessly. After a pitcher of Long Island Iced Tea, we finally called it a night and made plans to go clubbing. If I don't get lazy, I will be dancing away at Encore tonight...

on my way to work today...
Aren't you just thankful you have a much 'safer' job? This makes working on a Saturday a hundred times better.
Be safe!
Mr. Jones... on 'Valentine's Day'
It's the big V-day tomorrow and my friends and I decided to celebrate early last night. We couldn't have real dates with our loveys, since they are halfway across the world (in my and BS's case) or they are totally non-existent (JL's). More on that on a separate blog..
First stop, Mr. Jones, a new diner-style restaurant at Greenbelt 5. This place has been getting the raves lately and BS suggested we try this out. We came early 'cause we heard the place is always packed. True enough, it was filled to the brim when we got there but lucky for us, there was one table left by the walkway and we took it.
We got the Tater Tots to start - which are fried potato balls with dip, then the Superman, which is a double patty cheeseburger. JL and I shared this.
BS got the famous Tapa Overload - which one friend described as "the best tapsilog I've eaten in my life". After trying it, I can say the same thing... and I've eaten a good amount of tapsilog from all over the Philippines for comparison.
We were so full from all the good food that we shared a chocolate milkshake for dessert, which was also divine.
Next, Valentine's Day the movie. I really had high expectations on this one. I knew this is (somewhat) similar to 'Love Actually' and I'm curious to see how they are gonna play out the interconnecting story lines. I'm no movie critic but V-Day is kind of a mess and just had too much going on. It had some LOL moments though so I was somewhat entertained. But for me, Love Actually is a much better movie. Oh, and we got to see the trailer of the new Sex and the City movie and that was a real treat. :)
Have a great V-day everyone and stay in love! :)

why did i start?
First and foremost, this is not a blog about tea, coffee and any beverage in a cup (though I may write about it 'cause I love coffee). Like most blogs, this is about random thoughts, reviews and opinions in general that I want to share to the world (if the world cares).
So, why did i start? I made this blog because I want to write about my journey... literally, a journey from Manila all the way to Uncle Sam's world. You see, the inevitable is about to happen in my life. I am getting married. Yes, people, I am engaged and I will lose my job, leave my family, friends and the life I enjoyed living, move to another country and marry the man of my dreams. In that order.
If I seem interesting enough, then you are more than welcome to read and share your opinions with me. If this blog sounds stupid to you, I will still write it anyway.
I will probably write about shoes, too.... just so you know.
