Something blue

Sooo... I guess time flies when you're busy. Yes, I have been. From the big move, to the civil wedding, to the all-important application of the green card, job-hunting and church wedding planning, I have been running around doing all sorts of stuff. Again, I have neglected this blog and focused on things that matter. The real intention of putting up this blog was to chronicle my move and all the processes that went along with it, but I guess I have not fulfilled that. I promise to go into detail (hopefully) about those items later, but let me talk about a topic that's close to my heart: shoes.

If you have been paying attention, I have mentioned that I will be having my church wedding soon. I have fully committed myself to the fact that my "something blue" will be my shoes. My "new" is definitely my dress (separate entry on that). The "old" and "borrowed" I have not decided yet. Though I am not without a budget (like most of us commoners), I just want to share to you (2 of you) my favorites, and that includes the reachable and unreachable.

not paying attention

It has been exactly 3 months since my last post. I know I've been lazy but with good reason. If you have been following my blog (yes, all 2 of you.), you know that I am moving to the US soon... and that 'soon' has finally arrived. I've been busy getting documents together and preparing for my visa interview and I now have free time (well, sorta) to start writing again.

I am moving in 26 days. Yes, finally.

The Salcedo Market

The Saturday market in Salcedo is always a bright spot in my usually i-hate-coming-to-work-on-a-weekend mood. It certainly gives me something to look forward to as I get to try different kinds of food. And I always make sure to try something new each week. This week though, I was feeling diet-y and got a fresh Chinese lumpia :)

Just when I thought I have fulfilled my promise to avoid eating anything that resembles dessert for 2 weeks .. I have failed again. I have been invited for an afternoon snack at The Peninsula Manila to celebrate a friend's birthday. Since the couple are 'balikbayans' and will fly back to the US in a couple of days, I didn't pass up the chance to spend some time with them.

Upon reaching their table at the lobby of The Pen, I was told we were having ice cream, I forgot my Lenten promise and just grabbed the ice cream menu. I know this is going to be good, since The Pen is known for they're superb ice cream. A little pricey, yes, at a minimum of 600 bucks per bowl, but they are to die for.




The birthday girl got herself a Halo- Halo. I got the Fruit and Yogurt bowl.. still trying to semi-fulfill my promise by getting "fat-free" dessert. My other 3 companions shared the famous Pen Pals: 21 scoops of ice cream and sorbet, with slices of tropical fruits, marshmallows, chocolate wafers and topped with whipped cream and cherries. It was pretty insane.




My bowl is a mix of mango and strawberry frozen yogurt with fresh fruit slices. Since these 2 are my favorite fruits ever, I devoured it and finished first. Of course, I wouldn't pass up a chance to have some of the Pen Pals, so I helped myself and had those too.

It was the perfect way to spend a hot Saturday afternoon.
